I am a student at Eastern University and I have a blog as well. It is not nearly as amazing as yours, but if you would like you should check it out on the Eastern Undergrad admissions page. I really enjoyed reading your blog Jessica. I am having similar feelings on my spiritual journey. God too has chiseled some nasty slime from me over the years and it seems like the world's people places and things wants to throw it back on. We are up against a great challenge to overcome the pressures of the world; however, I have found that by surrounding myself with fellow Christian and people that are trying to do good in this world, the pressures aren't as great. God wants us to be in the world but not of the world. No one is perfect and making mistakes is part of spiritual growth. Christ died and took our sins with Him. We are required to have faith, repent, and be truly sorry for our mistakes. Just remember that with 2 billion Christian's in this world, we have plenty of support.

Hey Jess,

I enjoyed your post :]. I already read it on tumblr, but in looking at this again, I have some other thoughts I'd like to share with you :]

My favorite Bible passage is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (NIV)

My "life motto" if you will, is "Choose Joy." I love talking about this. :] When Paul and Silas were in prison, they rejoiced and sang hymns, the chose joy. Even in the worst circumstances, prison of all places, they made the conscious decision to pray the Lord and demonstrate their joy.

Even in the rough or boring patches, there is a reason to be joyful. It's funny, because as I write this, I just reminded myself to keep that joy in ALL situations, even the one I'm in now.

Funny - it's the opposite for me. When I go home, I feel like the nasty side of me comes out. Also, I've often felt like the people who know me most are pretty familiar with all my vices. It's funny, I was looking back the other day at past "relationships." I allllmmmmooosttt got myself into one last semester. Erm... was being pressured by friends to get in one. But God is good, and being faithful to Him meant not dating this guy. Best choice ever. And he loves Jesus! It just wasn't right...

Dear Jess,
Don't fret, everyone changes! I've heard the same things from my family and sometimes you just can't help it. God is growing you up and teaching you so much-it's an awesome season! Also, don't feel too bad about not communicating, I do the same thing for the most part. It's this thing called college and it's like we're in a bubble.
